Jesus and Depression

Did you know that most people who suffer from depression and get well, are at a higher risk of getting depressed again in the future? And a lot of them actually get more depressed…

It’s like their symptoms and their depression has been suppressed instead of having been cured once and for all.

That makes me interested in searching, looking and tweaking until finding a way to beat depression and make it stay away for good the rest of our lives. I think I just found it!!

Jesus and Depression,
Jesus and Depression

The thing is that when you’re depressed you think you’re alone in this darkness and hopeless because cannot see the way out. We feel like we are stepping into quicksand sinking little by little with every minute.

Some sayings about Jesus I could find and relate them to the lens of fighting depression:

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life:
no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

John 14:6

and all drank the same spiritual drink,
for they were drinking
from a spiritual rock which followed them;
and the rock was Christ.

1 Corinthians 10:4

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden,
and I will give you rest.

Matthew 11:28

Having the belief that someone bigger than ourselves has sacrificed himself for our salvation and well being, it’s the ultimate sign of true love.

I’ve decided to talk about the most powerful way to beat depression and make sure doesn’t pop up in the future, because if I’m honest Jesus can turn your life around in an instant once you accept him in your heart.

I don’t know who said it or if someone has said this, but there’s no room for depression in your life when Jesus Christ is there.

Well, it’s just that…

Sounds like there’s an objection to my last statement.

Listen, I get it. I understand that this is a big step to take in your life. But remember that depression is as well a big deal.

Jesus wants that we have life and live abundantly and a life full of depression is not an abundant life. Period.

Just need to repent of your sins ask for forgiveness and if you ask with your heart, you’ll be able to feel his eternal love and forgiveness. From there Jesus will take charge of all your anxiety and depression.

My intention is not to give you a sermon on accepting Jesus (or not just that) as your savior but instead giving you reasons for hope and love that waiting on him is the best thing we can do to solve our depression problems.

As real and intense you feel the emotions of sadness, anxiety, and depression, that nobody gets, you also feel the emotions of love, hope, and faith when you believe and wait in him.

Everybody that have accepted Jesus in their heart and have faith in him can understand this.

  1. I’m glad that your faith in Jesus has helped your depression. I guess we all react to faith in Jesus and depression in different ways. May it continue to bring comfort to you!

  2. We need to always remember that our faith in Christ is not just an event but a process. When I cease to grow in him, my earthly boundaries begin to limit my ability to fight depression. When my walk with Christ is constant and growing as I transform into a new creation, depression tends to be a much less formidable foe.
